Hi Nick, I think Alejandro would very much like reading the chapter in my book,”Everything you always wanted to know about coca but were afraid to ask.” I discuss ‘tupa coca’ the Inca royal coca, which is used in Coca Cola and which is the most flavorful of the four varieties of coca which contain cocaine. The late Peruvian historian María Rostworowski said this variety was likely the coca food ingredient in the precolumbian world. I also mention the Alta Chicama coca fields which supply Coca Cola and the important Coca Sour.
